how massage improves your golf game

As the winter weather disappears and golf season starts up, its time to find a new way to get yourself ready to play as many rounds as possible in 2025.

For most golfers the dog days of winter lead to less time swinging the clubs and more time inside dreaming of the perfect spring and summer days on the course.

You should also be dreaming about not having any pain or soreness before and after your rounds.

  • As an RMT, we can help you stay on the course:

  • An RMT can provide hands on techniques that help with your rotation during swings, create a home care plan of personalized stretching and strengthen to help you feel 3 strokes better while standing over the ball.
  • The torque and power generated during the rotation of a golf swing comes from the trunk and core of the body (torso).

  • The lumbar vertebrae (lower back) were not designed to rotate, so the ribs actually do the majority of the work.

An RMT is able to manipulate the ribs and fascia around the ribs to help increase rotation.

  • One of the oldest is saying in golf is “slow is smooth and smooth is fast” and a smooth rotation results in more power during the swing. A smooth, powerful swing is a key to lowering your handicap.
  • The scapula (shoulder blade) also plays a key role in rotation and having the ability to have a full backswing in golf.

  • The scapula slides and glides throughout all movements of the arm. Without proper movement of the scapula a swing can feel short and choppy. As an RMT we can provide passive movement to the scapula and manual manipulation to help build up the range of motion of the scapula.
  • A full body assessment can help you understand your body and swing better.

  • Finding out where your mobility is hindered and building a plan to become more flexible can be the difference in shaving off a few strokes this season.

The last thing you want heading into golf season is to have soreness and miss out on rounds you should be playing!

RMT’s can help you realize where pain and soreness are arising from during a whole-body assessment before treatment and help you reach your golfing goals this summer (maybe even help that handicap drop).

Start on the right foot this year and have an RMT get you golf ready this spring.
